Willow Creek
State Recreation Area
Willow Creek State Recreation Area is located 1 1/2 miles southwest of Pierce and was completed and opened in 1984. The area covers 1600 acres including 700 acre reservoir. Built primarily for flood control and recreation, it provides a variety of opportunities including; fishing, power boating, skiing, swimming, picnicking, horse-back riding, snowmobiling, hunting, and camping.
There are 83 camping pads, including 64 with electrical hookups. The area has a trailer dump station and a shower facility. Four concrete boat ramps provide access and a modern fish cleaning station is situated near the southeast ramp. Three fishing piers have been constructed to insure that everyone has an excellent fishing opportunity.
Hunters should note that most of the 900 land acres are managed for upland game and are open for hunting, however, no rifles or handguns are premitted. The area has also proven to be a popular stop-over for migrating waterfowl, pleasing both hunters and watchers alike. The area also boasts a fourteen target "walk through" archery course.
Willow Creek is open year round. A nominal fee of $6.00 is charged to camp with electricity and a State Entry Permit is required on each vehicle that enters the area.
