UTILITIES

How do I sign up for utilities? Stop by the city offices at 106 S. 1st. St. A deposit of $150 is required before water, sewer, and electricity are turned on. All customers should notify the City Offices prior to moving out of a residence so a final meter reading can be taken. The telephone number is (402) 329-4535.

How are my utilities billed? Water, Sewer, Electricity, and Garbage are all billed out once a month as part of one statement. You will receive your bill stub approximately the last week of each month. Customers receive a percentage discount if the utility bill is paid by the 10th of the month.

When is my trash pickup? Depending on where you live, garbage is picked up once a week by the alley. If you do not have an alley, it will be picked up at the end of your driveway. The City's garbage contractor is M&M Sanitation of Pierce.

Who is the telephone provider? For telephone service, you need to contact Pierce Telephone Company at 112 S. 5th. St. The telephone number is (402) 329-6225.

Who is the Internet provider? For Internet service, you also need to contact Pierce Telephone Company or Cable One.

Who is the cable provider? For cable service, you need to contact Cable One out of Norfolk. Their phone number is (402) 379-2330.

Who is the natural gas supplier? For natural gas service, you need to contact Aquila. Their phone number is (402) 303-2330.

Does the City have a dump? Grass clippings, leaves, and branches can be hauled to the city dump which is located west of the high school. The dump is open from May until November. The dump hours are Wednesdays 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. & Saturdays, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Do you have a recycling program? The City of Pierce currently does not have a recycling program. However, newspapers and magazines for recycling can be dropped off at the Boy Scouts trailer located on Pierce Street north of Courthouse. Aluminum cans in a garbage sack can be dropped off in a canister on the Northeast corner outside of the Fire Department building at 106 S. 1 st St.
