Gilman Park Canada Geese

![]() |
In the spring of 1989, a pair of wild Canada Geese nested and raised six goslings on the south island of Bill Cox Memorial Lake. The same pair have returned and nested every year since and in addition, other pairs began nesting on the north island in 1991. One hundred ten geese have hatched since 1989 and the Gilman Park resident flock has become quite well know throughout the area. During the time of the year the lake is not frozen, geese can usually be seen somewhere around the arboretum. In the spring of 1994, over 1000 geese spent several days around the lake.
