One of Gilman Park's newest additions has been the Dr. John Calvert Memorial Gazebo.  The structure, along the shore of Bill Cox Lake, was paid for entirely by donations in memory of the late Dr. Calvert who practiced medicine in Pierce for many years.

In conjunction with the gazebo, over 600 feet of sidewalk was paved, recycled plastic and cast iron benches were placed along the sidewalk, and the area was landscaped with a "moonlight" perennial garden of evening and night-flowering plants. The only remaining portions of the project are to add a bronze plaque and ornamental lighting along the sidewalk when funds become available.

The gazebo was already the site of a 1999 wedding with another scheduled in 2000.
