Family History:  The Hein Family immigrated from Germany to America and arrived in port at New York City in November 1868.  They made their way to Chicago where Friedrich had a brother, Chris; before moving on to Watertown, Wisconsin where Friedrich worked as a sheep grower.  Here the family lived for fifteen years.  Then in 1883 they made the decision to pull up stakes and move to Dakota Territory and homestead on the land.  They homesteaded on what became Belle Prairie Township, Beadle County, South Dakota.  Friedrich died at the age of 63 after being dragged to death by his team of horses while unloading a load of corn and was the first to be buried at the Immanuel Lutheran Church cemetery, Iroquois, South Dakota.  Dorothea died at the age of 90 and is buried also at Immanuel Lutheran Church cemetery.
