The Pierce Public Library is proud to supply information
and materials for family genealogy research for the
Pierce area. The Genealogy Collection is available during regular library hours. Special assistance is available by
The Genealogy Help Group meets on a regular basis; the
first Monday of February, April, June, August, October,
December at 7:00 p.m. at the library. This is a non-dues
organization supported by donations. Anyone interested
in family history or genealogy is welcome to attend. The
Group will offer hints on how to start your research or
help you when you "hit a brick wall".
The Group is always seeking donated research materials.
If you have materials or copies of your own research or
family trees, please consider donating a copy to the

St. John's Lutheran Church, Pierce - 1871 to 1998
St. John's was the first church established in Pierce
County -- many early settlers in the Pierce area were
members of St. John's.

Obituary and Marriage Index:
A card file has been created indexing the obituaries and
marriage stories from the Pierce County Call. This is an
on going project with obituaries and marriages currently
indexed from 1925 thru 1947. (The index is also available on the Pierce County GenWeb site, link below.)
Pierce County Abstract Books:
These are the original abstract books donated by
Chilvers Abstract Company. Information contained in
these books is from the original deeding of property in
Pierce County until the late 1970's.

Pierce Names and Businesses - A wonderful collection of
information on families and businesses in Pierce -
assembled by Bill Chilvers
"1934 Pierce County Fair" - The Pierce County Leader
offered free tickets to the Pierce County Fair to anyone
who had resided in Pierce County 50 years or more. The
Leader printed a collection of stories of those early
pioneers. Assembled by the Genealogy Group.
"Then and Now in Hadar Nebraska - 1883 - 1982" - A
centennial booklet compiled by the Busy Homemakers
and Friendly Faces Extension Clubs
Funeral Visitation Cards - A collection donated by the
family of LaVern Mordhorst Buckendahl, from the 1960's
to the 1990's.
Marriage and Engagement Scrapbook - A collection of
marriage and engagement articles in the late 1930's from
the Norfolk Daily News in scrapbook form, donated by
the family of Irene Klein Lesser.
"Heritage of Ixonia, Wisconsin" - Many early Pierce and
Madison County settlers came from the Ixonia area.
